Japan Local Debasement, while not unique to Niigata there are many people who believe products and services from "Rural Brands= Lesser Products" through Product Comparison and desire a more City-like look, feel, and appearance, otherwise they feel they are settling for less or missing out on the better thing. Many who see differences in quality will argue "City Brands=Better Products", but this also can go for places labeled as products that come from "Countryside" that is labeled a lesser product until it proves otherwise. The whole idea that local products have to prove themselves is Japan Local Debasement as an idea a person may have. Some call this City envy which many people do in fact have and that leads to closed-communities with gatekeepers, shrinking society norms, and new things will not be born leaving the old things to slowly disappear.

The Effects of Snow Mentality, Winter Reintegration Anxiety, Post-winter every year there is a type of depression that hits and that is connected to sluggish-depression (Diagnosis S.A.D.) and that is from receiving less sunlight. It is also difficult to keep social connections and depression along with anxiety when people who feel stuck in their homes and towns and choose not to do go back into the world outside of the comfort of their isolated lifestyle. It would be common that people would head to Izakayas, Clothing Stores, Department Stores, Restaurants, Convenient Transportation, Places to Play, and Outstanding Attractions to visit to reverse the feeling of sluggishness and increase sunlight exposure to reduce the risk of certain diseases, help improve mood, and reduce depression symptoms. There was more communication, but the overuse of the internet had negative impacts by not going out in person as much and engaged people in the real world it was hard to do so, because it felt too personal, feel really uncomfortable, and physical-verbal socializing anxiety. The brain has reassuring parts that help people become socially comfortable instead of anxious, but if those aren't used the brain slowly rids of those connections of what is not being used (dormant): body language, voice tone, facial expression, physical touch, and they become uncomfortable and make people anxious instead.
