Niigata Encyclopedia

Tsubame Sanjo “Smart Spoon” was made in 2014 and was named to refer to its versatility and how it is a smart idea to pair with rice bowl dishes. Curry dishes, and any sorts of foods. The development would make a spoon that the plate is thinner and more slender 1mm instead of the usual 1.5mm, so there was no need to open the mouth wide. It has become a shape that originated from swallow and looks quite artistic. Those who are worried of their make up don’t have to worry about the stains as its form fits in the mouth easily and is both more hygienic and durable. When people see such spoons it reminds them of the metal works of utensils used for eating bowl donburi dishes in a serious fashion or as the spoon that reminds them of Kareya (curry shops) that have great specialization in both curries and bowl dishes. From people who see the spoon and hear its explanation it would be referred to as a “Kare Spoon” as it is the dish that comes to find about stains and a food of Niigata.
